NOBULA KONGRESNA
Redesign of event management
web application
Key info
My role: UX/UI design, research
Timeline: 2 months
Tools: Figma, Miro, Slack
Client: Dedal Komunikacije d.o.o.
Overview
The project involved a redesign of an event management app made by developers. Fuelled by user feedback, focus was on improving usability, and incorporating user-driven features. The user-centric approach resulted in an intuitive, and accessible app, elevating event management experience for all users.
Objectives and 4 Ws
I used the 4W approach at the beginning of the project to provide a concise and structured introduction to the app redesign. This allowed me to present essential information about the project's purpose, significance, target audience, and timeline in a clear and straightforward manner, setting the stage for further discussions and details about the project.
Old screens
The goal was to modernize the user interface, improve user experience, and align it with current design trends. By revamping these screens, I aimed to enhance both aesthetics and functionality, ensuring they deliver a more engaging and user-friendly experience for today’s audience.
To achieve this, I first conducted a heuristic analysis to identify potential usability issues and areas for improvement. This method allowed me to evaluate the existing design against established usability principles, providing a clear understanding of where the interface fell short and helping guide the redesign process effectively.
Iterative process
The development process of Kongrgesna was a dynamic and iterative journey, characterized by constant feedback, ideation, and refinement. As a team, we recognized the importance of continuous improvement and collaboration to create an app that truly resonated with its users.
Empathising with users
Since the app had been actively used for numerous events, it garnered a wealth of feedback from its users. Some of the common feedback themes included remarks about the outdated UI design, difficulty in finding specific information, and a desire for more comprehensive analytics. We carefully analyzed all the feedback, categorizing it into different themes and identifying recurring patterns. This step helped us gain a holistic understanding of the most pressing user needs and pain points.
Definition
a) Problem
The most significant problems users faced with the app were related to its outdated user interface, lack of effective communication tools with attendees and speakers, non-responsiveness, insufficient reports and analytics for administrators and attendees, and poor accessibility, particularly the issue of small font size, which hindered usability for some users. Addressing these critical pain points formed the core of the redesign project to create a more modern, user-friendly, and accessible event management solution.
b) Effort impact matrix
To prioritize the feedback gathered from users, I employed a matrix that considered the effort required for implementation and the potential impact on the user experience. Collaborating with stakeholders, including engineers, we categorized the feedback into themes and assessed the level of effort needed to address each item. Simultaneously, we evaluated the impact of each change on user satisfaction and overall app performance. By assigning priority based on high-impact, low-effort changes, we developed a roadmap that guided our development efforts, ensuring that the most crucial user needs were addressed first.

Moodboard
I created a moodboard for the Kongresna app project, which effectively communicated the overall look and feel of the app. The moodboard was instrumental in establishing a cohesive design language and ensuring that all stakeholders were aligned on the aesthetic direction of the project. Throughout the design process, I used the moodboard as a reference point, which enabled me to create an app that met the needs of both the business and its users.
Outcome
The development process of Kongresna was a dynamic and iterative journey, characterized by constant feedback, ideation, and refinement. As a team, we recognized the importance of continuous improvement and collaboration to create an app that truly resonated with its users.
The main features I incorporated into the redesigned Kongresna app focused on enhancing user experience and functionality. These features included improved accessibility, allowing users of diverse abilities to access the app effortlessly. I integrated a seamless communication platform that enabled attendees to contact lecturers directly and provide feedback through the app, fostering interactive and engaging event experiences. Moreover, I designeda mobile version of the app, ensuring users could manage events on-the-go with ease.
To empower administrators and attendees, I added comprehensive analytics, providing valuable insights for event evaluation and performance tracking. Additionally, I introduced a white labeling option, allowing event organizers to customize the app with their branding, reinforcing their identity. Lastly, by addressing loading time issues based on user feedback, I ensured a smoother and more efficient user experience during event management. These improvements collectively transformed Kongresna into a dynamic and user-centric event management platform.
