The mobile app project for the dental office from Split aimed to revolutionize the traditional way of booking dental appointments. The owners wanted to bring all relevant data into one centralized platform, making it easier for both patients and employees, especially the front desk. The old-fashioned way of booking a dentist appointment through phone calls or clinic visits takes too much time and does not provide a positive user experience in today's digital age.
Problem statement
The Dentelli app aims to address the inefficiencies of the traditional dental appointment booking process by providing a centralized platform that simplifies appointment booking, improves accessibility, and enhances communication for both patients and dental office staff.
Context
With the app, patients can easily book appointments at their convenience, and employees can efficiently manage patient information and appointments in one place. The app provides a modern, convenient and efficient solution for dental appointment booking, improving the overall experience for both patients and employees.
Three objectives
Make scheduling appointments easier
Develop a user-friendly interface that enables patients to easily schedule dental appointments through the app, reducing reliance on phone calls and clinic visits.
Improve patient experience
Enhance the overall patient experience by providing appointment reminders, notifications, and easy access to dental records, ensuring a seamless and hassle-free journey from booking to treatment.
Drive clinics growth
Support dental clinics in attracting new patients and retaining existing ones by implementing a referral program, offering loyalty rewards, and leveraging marketing features within the app to increase visibility and promote the clinic's services.
Empathising

Recognizing the need for a more efficient and user-friendly solution, I conducted extensive research on industry trends, user preferences, and existing dental software.
Personas
Personas were created as part of the Dentelli mobile app project to develop a deep understanding of the target users and their needs. They helped me with empathy-driven decision-making, ensuring that the app addresses the specific pain points, preferences, and goals of the target audience.
I explored three key personas during my exploration: Mara Filipovic, a busy professional; Ena Dobric, a worried patient; and Darko Radic, the doctor. Understanding their unique needs and challenges guided the design of the Dentelli app, ensuring it caters to their specific requirements.

2. Definition
The exploration for the Dentelli mobile app project began with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by dental offices in the traditional appointment booking process. Recognizing the need for a more efficient and user-friendly solution, I conducted extensive research on industry trends, user preferences, and existing dental software.
SWOT analysis
The SWOT analysis was conducted for Dentelli to gain a comprehensive understanding of its internal strengths, weaknesses, as well as external opportunities and threats. By conducting a SWOT analysis, we aimed to identify Dentelli's competitive advantages, areas for improvement, potential growth opportunities, and potential challenges in the market. This analysis allowed us to make informed decisions, devise effective strategies, and capitalize on Dentelli's strengths while addressing weaknesses and mitigating potential risks. The SWOT analysis served as a valuable tool for assessing Dentelli's current position, guiding decision-making, and positioning the app for long-term success in the dental industry.
User flows shows the path that user will travel
After the research phase, the next step in the process was sketching a user flow. User flow is essential since it shows the paths that the user will travel from the start of their interaction until they reach their ultimate goal. User flow answers to the following questions: “Where will the user click?”, “To which page will it take him?”, “How will I connect all the parts of the app?”.

Low-fidelity wireframes as a tool for aligning stakeholders.
To align stakeholders and ensure a clear understanding of the Dentelli app's vision, I utilized low-fidelity wireframes as a powerful tool. These wireframes served as a visual blueprint, outlining the basic structure and functionality of the app. By keeping the wireframes intentionally simple and devoid of intricate design elements, I fostered a focus on core features and interactions. This approach allowed stakeholders to provide valuable feedback and input early in the process, enabling effective collaboration and ensuring that everyone was on the same page regarding the app's direction and objectives.
User testing
To validate and improve the user experience of the Dentelli app, I conducted user testing sessions where I presented the low-fidelity wireframes. These sessions allowed me to gather valuable insights and feedback directly from users, which informed necessary changes to enhance usability. Here are three examples of adjustments made based on user feedback:

Simplifying the Appointment Booking Flow: Users found certain steps in the appointment booking process confusing. To address this, I restructured the flow, removing unnecessary screens and simplifying the user interactions to make it more intuitive and streamlined.

Enhancing Navigation Menu: Users expressed difficulties in finding specific features within the app. In response, I made improvements to the navigation menu, reorganizing and labeling menu items to ensure easy access to key functionalities and improve overall user navigation.

Improving Visual Hierarchy: Users highlighted instances where the visual hierarchy of information was unclear, leading to a lack of clarity in prioritizing content. To address this, I refined the layout and typography, emphasizing important information, and ensuring a more intuitive and engaging user experience.
Revamped Style Guide: Modernized and Enhanced for a Fresh Look
For the mobile app, I implemented a fresh color scheme, captivating illustrations, dynamic photos, and carefully selected typography. These enhancements were made to ensure that the visual elements align with the target audience and create a more engaging user experience. By incorporating modern design elements, I have transformed the style guide to reflect the app's contemporary and appealing aesthetics.
Personas were created as part of the Dentelli mobile app project to develop a deep understanding of the target users and their needs. By creating fictional characters that represent different user segments, personas provide a human-centric perspective that helps shape the design and functionality of the app. Personas allow for empathy-driven decision-making, ensuring that the app addresses the specific pain points, preferences, and goals of the target audience.
4. Outcome
The outcome for Dentelli has been highly positive, focusing on simplifying the process of booking dental appointments and facilitating communication between patients and dental clinics. The app has streamlined the appointment booking process, making it more efficient and user-friendly.  Dentelli has also demonstrated a commitment to continuous improvement, incorporating feedback and making necessary updates to enhance the user experience.
The implementation of a robust notifications system has significantly reduced appointment no-shows
The implementation of a robust notifications system within Dentelli has yielded one of the best outcomes for revenue by effectively reducing appointment no-shows. With timely and automated reminders, patients are more likely to attend their scheduled appointments, minimizing costly gaps in the schedule. By maximizing appointment attendance, the app has helped the clinic to optimize their revenue streams and ensure a more efficient utilization of resources.
Dentelli's success in enhancing the patient experience, optimizing resources, and driving revenue growth underscores its value as a transformative tool in the dental industry. As the app continues to evolve and adapt to changing needs, it holds the potential to further enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of dental care delivery.
